Hello Kitty Card

I made a super cute Hello Kitty card for a coworker today.  She plans on sending it to a friend of hers that she doesn't see too often.  It's really hard for me to make a card with a character on it.  I feel like there has to be a scene to go along with it but after looking at some other cards for inspiration I realized that's not so.  I just have to fill the rest of the card with other things.

I dry embossed the shirt & bow to add texture

Now that I've gotten the basics of using characters on cards I don't think I will be so hesitant to make the next one!

Shadow Box Collage

I got the idea for this next project from a fellow blogger, Amy over at http://aimitup.blogspot.com/.  Her work is amazing!!  I visit her blog often for inspiration because her work is really that awesome.  Lately I've been thinking that I would like to expand my papercrafting repertoire and seeing her shadow box collages inspired me.

I was trying to figure out what to get a good friend for her birthday.  I was so lost as to what to get.  She's pretty creative as well and I wanted to get her something special, but what?  One day it hit me out of nowhere....a collage!  It would be perfect and I could design it myself.  I used some of her favorite colors and added the word "Create" to it.  Hopefully she can hang it in her craft area or area where she designs.  I also made a matching card.

This card is not the exact one I gave to my friend.  It says "Just Because" so it obviously isn't a birthday card.  I loved the card so much that I made one similar.

Hope you enjoyed these.  I love love love them and the color combo.

"Spring Fling" Esty Treasury

Check out my Etsy"Spring Fling" treasury which  features beautiful pink and green images.  The creativity of these people amaze me.  I found some great shops to start making purchases from.  Enjoy!  It really is a beautiful treasury.

New Venture....Invitations.

I never planned on making invitations for others.  I know how stressful a large order can be for someone like me who works fulltime so I never considered it.  That has changed though.   A few months ago I was contacted by a friend to make invites for her son's birthday and I agreed to make them.  Since then people have been telling me they plan on ordering invites from me for various occasions, mostly birthdays, so I guess now I am doing invitations.  I don't mind one bit.  In fact I completed my first invite order this weekend.

These invitations are for a birthday party that will take place at a movie theater.  I put my creative mind to work and came up with an idea but once I started working on it the entire invitation changed from what I had originally planned.  Instead of a one-sided invitation I ended up with a two-sided invitation and much more detail than I imagined.  I love how they turned out.

I shipped these out yesterday and I cannot wait for the client to receive them.  I wish I could be there to see her daughter's face when she sees them.  I am looking forward to the next invite order now!

What's Black, White and Pink All Over?

My new (and first) treasury!  I am apart of a great team of ladies on Etsy, called KNET, who have decided to put on a challenge.  It's a way of showcasing our items and helping other "etsians" out by showcasing their work as well.

Here is my entry:

I had a ton of fun making it.

Blue Patchwork

I planned to work on a card today but after having come home from work, finishing up the inking, then not finding my glue tape to piece the card together I gave up.  If you saw my craft room you would completely understand why I didn't feel like hunting for it.  It's a mess!  Since I have no finished product to show you I will tell you about my favorite card to date, the Patchwork card.

If you follow my "life" blog you may have already seen this super cute card but for those of you who haven't seen it you will be graced with it's presence via pictures here.  I was inspired to make the Patchwork card by pictures in a card making magazine.  I really loved the look of piecing together a card using a bunch of different papers.  I can't really remember what the card in the magazine looked like but that's OK, I came up with my own design for this card.  Oh, and this card is perfect for using up scraps!

Some bling

Can't forget the heart

I LOVE this card

Another picture just because I love looking at it

See, a perfect way to use up scrap!  Just find colors that compliment one another, cut into equal parts, glue, add embellishments, and voila!  You have a super cute card that uses up scraps and left over embellishments.  The hardest part is getting the squares to be all the same size and fit onto the card.

Hope you enjoyed looking at this card as much as I do!  I plan on making more of these.  This one sold very quickly on my Etsy shop and I was sad to see it go but thankfully I have more of the paper I used on this one so I can replicate it!  Yay!
