Pumpkin Patch Mini Notes

Welcome to another Friday! Today I have a cute little project for you but first a few things. If you look to your left you will notice that I have made blog button. You can grab it and add it to your blog if you want. To the right I added a blinkie. It's for the Spook-tacular SVG Blog Hop that I, and a lot of talented ladies, will be apart of. It's going on September 30th through October 2nd. Make sure to mark your calendar and hop along with us! On to my project. I'm still obsessed with kraft paper. I know, I know....still!? I can't help it. I keeps calling my name every time I sit at my craft table. I used one of SVG Attics' new sets, Pumpkin Patch SVG Collection, to make some mini note cards that are perfect for fall. Take a look at the adorable collection!

And here are the mini note cards I made using that awesomely cute collection.

The mini note cards are pretty small and measure 2.75" x 3.5". I used one of each of the pumpkins from the Pumpkin Patch SVG Collection so each mini note was slightly different. I shaded each piece of the pumpkin with Tim Holtz' distress inks to give each little guy some depth. I also used sandpaper to add a little more depth and additional color. I was contemplating adding twine but I decided against it. I kind of like these little cards naked! I hope you enjoyed today's project! Mini Note Cards

I took a break from selling on Etsy for a few months and wasn't sure if I'd go back to it.  My sales were dismal there.  I was selling a lot outside of Etsy and not having to worry about fees but I was starting to get stressed with custom orders so I took a break from that as well.  This past week I had been considering starting up again but wasn't sure I should and then things started happening.  One person mentioned selling their handmade goods so it got me thinking.  Then another mentioned the items I make and then another person did as well all within a few days.  It pushed me to get back into it. 

I reassesed my items and came up with a new idea on what I should sell based on what I like and what I see people buy.  Simple and sweet is my new take on the items I plan on sellling.  I'm sure I'll throw in more intricate items but for now simple works.

Here is an example of a set of mini notecards that I absolutely love.  They are cute, simple, and classy.  Sometimes less is really more and I found that I wasn't following that saying before.

Back to School

I am just in time for back to school with my latest project.  Sometimes I tuck little surprises into my daughter's packed lunch or in her backpack for her to find.  She really enjoys getting them and it's a way to perk up her day.  With that being said, today's project is for the purpose of doing just that. 

My daughter starts school tomorrow so I barely made the deadline!  I stayed up late rocking out to Pandora on the Rolling Stones station (I should have been born a few decades earlier I think), reminiscing with my old military buddies on Facebook, and working on the little lunchbox notes to make the deadline!. 

The cute little shaped lunchbox notes were created using SVG Attic's Back to School SVG collection.

Chalkboard, scrawl a message onto the chalkboard using a white or silver gel pen

I love the diversity of them!  I purposely made each one with a different style to reveal the message.  It makes it more fun. 

Quick note on the chalkboard notecard.  I used the print and cut feature in Silhouette Studio for the chalkboard with the writing.  For the chalk-looking writing I used the "pencilPete" free font found HERE.

Challenge Entry

I decided to throw a little something together last night for the Paper Dolls third weekly challenge.  For the challenge you are required to use at least one SVG file created by Belinda of Bee's Hive O'Drama.  I used two in my entry which is a mini note card measuring 4" x 2.5".  Not sure if length or width is supposed to go first in that whole measurement thing.  I know I work with numbers all day long but I have a calculator that tells me what to do...completely different than these numbers.

Of the SVG files available (by the way go get yours...they're free...and submit a project too!)....OK, back to what I was saying before my mind wandered (as usual), of the cute SVGs that Belinda created, I used one of the hearts with the scalloped edge and the scalloped edge frame.

I crinkled the scalloped part of the heart, inked it with Tim Holtz' Dusty Concord (purple) Distress Ink then spritzed it with water to make the ink run.  I then sped up the drying process by using my heat tool.

I used a small snippet of hemp cord (teehee, that always makes me giggle) for the middle of the heart to make it appear to be a button.  The holes were in the SVG but with the lovely Cricut you won't get holes that small.  You'll just end up with some torn and wasted paper.  Now the Silhouette can probably do the job...*sigh*...I'm dreaming.

I stamped the sentiment in the same ink color as the tie-dye looking heart.

The purple base of the card was embossed with a swirly design then lightly inked in Ink It Ups! Lavender.

I think that pretty much it.  It was fairly simple to make.  Don't forget to head on over to Paper Dolls and Bee's Hive O'Drama.

Lunchbox Notes

My intention was to post sneak peaks of each lunchbox note I made as I made them.  One example is the blue cupcake I posted a picture of.  Actually, that was the only example!  I didn't fail completely though.  I posted the sneak peaks on my Facebook page so if you are a fan they you got to see my work in progress.  If you're not a fan of my page head on over there.  It's 19Eighty Expressions on Facebook.

Since I failed at posting sneak peeks here I will post the final product here for you to see.  Before I do that let me tell you a little about what they are.  The title of this post is what they are called but what gave me the idea to do this?  My daughter.  She is of school age, carries a backpack, and eats a packed lunch.  I saw the idea the lunchbox notes online somewhere and loved the idea.  I thought they were the cutest thing ever and had to try it at least once on my daughter.  Well, I'm happy to tell you it worked.  She loved it so I decided I would spread the joy and make them for others to enjoy.

These super cute handmade lunchbox note cards are perfect for sneaking into your child's backpack, lunchbox, etc. It's a cute little surprise for them. You can even sneak one into your significant other's lunch!

Each card contains both printed and 3D elements.  I added a cute little note or phrase on each card to make it even cuter.  I plan on making smaller version of these cards with just the images but haven't gotten to it yet.  Mother's Day, bday parties, etc have been keeping me busy for the past two weeks!

Newest project in the works

I decided to do something a little different for this project.  I've seen these around, not this design, but the concept.  This is one design in a set of five.  So, four more to make.  I've already designed the others so all I have to do is tweak them and actually make them.

They aren't greeting cards.  Any guesses as to what these are?
