Quick and Easy Wine Bottle Topper

I can't believe Christmas is a few days away.  Agh!  Are you ready for it?  I am not at all!  I haven't bought any stocking stuffers nor have I wrapped presents.  I have a 10 year old on me all day about my procrastination.  Here's one way I plan to dress up a gift that I have yet to get!

I made a quick and easy wine bottle topper for my SVG Attic DT project.   

For this project I used Holly's Holiday Gift Boxes and Stocking Stuff from SVG Attic.  

From the gift box set I used the backing to the candy apple gift box as the actual bottle topper (the pink part with the sparkly trees).  I cut it at about 10" x 4" (give or take).  I also had a hole cut out at the top of the topper so it would slide on easily.  I scored either side of the hole and folded it over to make three sections.

As decoration I used the top to the peppermint candy gift box from the Stocking Stuff collection.  I then wrapped it in cellophane and tied off the sides with some Trendy Twine to make it actually look like a peppermint candy.

The stamped tickets are from Unity Stamp Co.   I hand cut them after I stamped them on white paper. 

Well, that's it for this project!  I hope you liked it.  Now to buy the wine that this pretty topper is to adorn.  Hmm, maybe I'll get some Lambic instead!

Fall Pillow Box

One thing I am grateful for are the amazing friends I have.  I truly have surrounded myself with awesome people, all of whom I've known for many years and go as far back as junior high.  Each friendship began at different times in my life and while I've been at different stages in growing as a person.  Each friendship has held strong and I am so thankful for the support they give me in my times of need.  I made my latest SVG Attic design team project with this in mind and of course because of the time of year.

For this pillow box I used SVG Attic's Holiday Cheer Gift Boxes SVG collection which has some really really cute gift boxes.  In it you get the pillow box I used, Santa's sleigh, an ornament bag, and a gift card holder.  Perfect for the holidays.  

I also used the Pumpkin Patch SVG collection from SVG Attic to make the cutout of the pumpkin and the pumpkin die cut.  The cutout is backed with gold vellum.  I used a white gel pen to add "stitching" to the pumpkin die cut.

The right side is adorned with some Orange Truffle twine from Trendy Twine.  You can also find them on Etsy HERE.  Please note that the shop is closed until November 28th (vacation).

The sentiment is from My Thoughts Exactly's Many Thanks stamp set.  MTE stamps are for sure my favorite sentiment stamps around.  The quality is better than other stamps I have tried and they don't get discolored!  Also, the sentiment stamps super sharp and clearly. 

I added some orange buttons I bought for $2 at the Scrapbook Expo last weekend.  The store is called Scrapbuck.  They have some pretty good deals and free shipping right now with a $20 purchase.

The paper is from DCWV's Harvest Gathering Stack.  Did you hear they are opening a DCWV Deals website?  Look for that in the near future.  I am super excited to stock up on paper stacks that they don't sell around here anymore.

Announcement & Design Team Project Friday

Well, I told you I had a big announcement and today is the day you get to find out what it is! It actually has nothing to do with paper crafting, cards, scrapbooking, etc. Sorry to disappoint if that's what you were looking forward to. I actually think it's better news than anything that has to do with paper. :)

Since it's my day to design for SVG Attic I decided to combine my announcement with my DT project. Ready for it?

Can you guess who? Hehe, it's me silly! After two long years (to the month!) we are ecstatic to announce that we are expecting child #2! This is going to be an interesting new addition. My daughter is already 10 and will just about be 11 when baby Blueberry Nugget Bean (long story) is born so there's a huge gap in age. It's actually nice though because I will have an automatic live-in nanny! Hahaha. This child is going to be annoyed by this baby before it's born if I keep teasing her!

This is my excuse for being around a lot less lately.  I have been absolutely exhausted!  I'm still in my first trimester and I really hope this fatigue goes away.  It's zapping ALL my energy and creativity from me.  My mind draws blanks when I try to think up something to make.  This better go away soon or I'll have a craft room that never gets used.  :(  *sigh*

On to the details of the announcement card.

I used the Tent Cards from SVG Attic as the base of the card. I also used the Give a Hoot collection from SVG Attic for the 3D owl inside the tent card. I added glitter to the owl's eyelashes to bling her out! I used some pink and white Trendy Twine as a border for the frame where the owl sits behind. The front circles were actually the left overs from the cut of the card. I decided to recycle and use it as a slide window. I used my Sew Easy to stitch the floss around the outter circle to create a border. I set some snaps that I purchased on Etsy from wickedwoolgathering with my Crop-a-dile. I added a pink brad to the top so the outter window can slide up to reveal the rest of the message.

Pumpkin Patch Mini Notes

Welcome to another Friday! Today I have a cute little project for you but first a few things. If you look to your left you will notice that I have made blog button. You can grab it and add it to your blog if you want. To the right I added a blinkie. It's for the Spook-tacular SVG Blog Hop that I, and a lot of talented ladies, will be apart of. It's going on September 30th through October 2nd. Make sure to mark your calendar and hop along with us! On to my project. I'm still obsessed with kraft paper. I know, I know....still!? I can't help it. I keeps calling my name every time I sit at my craft table. I used one of SVG Attics' new sets, Pumpkin Patch SVG Collection, to make some mini note cards that are perfect for fall. Take a look at the adorable collection!

And here are the mini note cards I made using that awesomely cute collection.

The mini note cards are pretty small and measure 2.75" x 3.5". I used one of each of the pumpkins from the Pumpkin Patch SVG Collection so each mini note was slightly different. I shaded each piece of the pumpkin with Tim Holtz' distress inks to give each little guy some depth. I also used sandpaper to add a little more depth and additional color. I was contemplating adding twine but I decided against it. I kind of like these little cards naked! I hope you enjoyed today's project! And here we are again.  Welcome back and thank you for coming to visit!  I hope you enjoy your stay.  Aside from my project I have a few other tid bits (is that one word?) to share with you.

First order of business, SVG Attic is holding a design team call.  Yea, Jessica got tired of us oldies and is looking for fresh new faces.  I am just kidding.  She loves us but she really is looking to expand her design team so that part wasn't a joke.  I know you all want to work with super cool Kasi (me).  Come on, you know you do!!  On a serious note though, go apply.  We are super cool and the most awesome design team ever (that's not a joke either)!  Promise!  Plus, you get free SVGs and get to participate in blog hops.  My only requirement for you is that you have a sense of humor.  Did that convince you yet?  Do you meet my requirement (that's not a real requirement)?  If so, head on over HERE!

Second, SVG Attic has been releasing mini SVG sets each time they reach increments of 100 on their Facebook fan page.  Head over there and "Like" them now if you haven't already and get in on a chance to get some cute free SVGs.

OK, now on to what you have been waiting for, my project!  Some background on it...the boss-lady (Jessica) said, "No more cards, think outside the box!"  So I did that...literally.  Hehe.  Really though she is totally fine with me making cards.  I stick to cards because I can always give them away to almost anyone.  With 3D projects I can never figure out who to make them for.  I know, a gift box or something but really I don't usually give out things like that.  Guess it's time to start, huh?  Well, thanks to Jessica I have actually come to enjoy making 3D paper things.  Today's project is my very first SVG box and first Halloween project of the year!  I know...already, right?!

Trick or Treat!!

I'm proud of my first box err, milk carton.

This spook-tacular milk carton gift box measures 5 1/2" tall.  In MTC I sized it so the carton stayed proportionate.  I used SVG Attic's Raven Claw Manor  SVG kit for both the haunted house and the tag.  The house is actually a box in the set but I played with it and just used parts of it so I could attach it to the milk carton from the Fun Favors SVG Collection.

I embossed both the roof and the door.  Didn't those two pieces come out super cool?  I really love embossing things.  It adds so much more umph to projects.

The tag was actually a card in the Raven Claw Manor collection but I decided to make it into a tag for this project.  I used a stamp I bought in the dollar bin last year from either Michael's or Joann's.  The "or" got wet so the ink kinda splatted and I had to write it in...oops!

I used my Crop-a-dile to set the eyelets on the top of the milk carton and I tied it with some spooky orange and black twine from Trendy Twine.  Word on the virtual street known as Facebook is that they are coming out with two new colors of twine!  Keep on the lookout for those.

Last bit of news.  There's going to be a few blog hops I'll be participating in within the next few months.  I've never been in one so I'm stoked!  Woohoo!  See, yet another reason to try out for the SVG Attic design team!

Announcement....ready for it?

Awhile back I had posted on Facebook that I was going to be a monthly guest designer for someone.  I didn't want to mention the name of the company at the time because I wanted to make sure it was actually going to happen.  Well, it looks like we are a go!  I have chosen the dates I will be designing.  I will have a project for July and one in September (for now).  Unfortunately I couldn't commit to next month as a guest designer because the date was during my vacation.

My Thoughts Exactly

Woohoo!!!!!!  I am so excited to be designing for them from time to time.  Do you know what they specialize in?  Stamps!  I am a sucker for stamps.  To top it off, you know who they partnered with don't you?  The up and coming company I currently am on the design team for.....SVG Attic!  I had no clue about this partnership until the date of the stamp release.  I got the news of making the design team for SVG Attic, then the stamp release and then the partnership...I was in shock.  Wait...what?  I will be designing for both?  How awesome is that?!

I am looking forward to my first project and working with Alyssa of My Thoughts Exactly.  What an exciting time!

SVG Attic Design Team Project

I have been so excited all week about the news of me being selected for the SVG Attic design team (DT).  I couldn't wait to get started on my project.  This is my very first venture into the DT world.  I am now apart of a growing company and working with some amazing and super crafty ladies.  Let me tell you a little about SVG Attic.  It's a new company that specializes in SVG files.  The creative genius behind it is Jessica of Jessica's Crop Corner.  She creates the most adorable SVGs.  Go take a look for yourself.  I promise you won't be disappointed.

For my design team project I used quite a few of the SVG collections available so you get to see them in action (not literally...I'm not THAT good).  I have been on a paper doll kick lately.  In fact, when I first saw the files I wasn't sure what I could make out of them but then all of a sudden it dawned on me and now I can't get enough of them.  I just keep dressing them up in different clothes!  Oh, there's more up my sleeve with them (in a Santa suit maybe) but umm, I think Jessica would like me to steer clear of the dolls and try something new!  Haha!  OK, I promise I will for the next project.  I just needed one last hoorah with the dolls before I say my temporary goodbye's.  Hear that?  Temporary goodbye.  They will be back!

My project today features four sets from SVG Attic (list & links below) and staying true to summer, I made it colorful and fun like I did with my beach card that you can see HERE.  My inspiration?  Nope not my home state of California...think somewhere tropical with clear blue water (CA definitely does NOT have that...water yes, clear and blue?  No) keep thinking.  OK I'll tell ya....Hawaii!  And why is Hawaii my inspiration?  Because I want to be there at least 8 months out of the year.  That's not much to ask out of life.

Aside from me wanting to live there, this year is the first in three years that we are not vacationing in Hawaii.  I am so sad about it.  Oh if only money ran rampant in my household!  No luau's for me this year *sigh*.  I wish the stamp had an "I" instead of a "we" in it.  You'll see what I mean in a moment.  I guess for now I will just stare at pictures and my card and imagine I was there.  You can too....

Can you hear the music?  Can you taste that pina colada (alcoholic or virgin, whichever your preference) or better yet, my favorite drink, the Lava Flow?  Can you feel the warm water on your toes?

I think that's enough.  I'm going to depress myself! 

On a non-depressing note, wouldn't it be cruel if I sent this to someone while I was in Hawaii and they were stuck at home?!  Haha....my sister better watch out...she may be getting this one day!

Measurements:

Base - 7.5" x 10" (7.5" x 5" folded)
Tiki bar - 4.5" x 5"
Luau sign - 2.5" x .75"
Girl - 2" x 4" her hula clothes were sized down to fit using MTC
Palm tree - 4.5" x 7.5" (this one is triple reinforced to stay up!)
Ukelele - 2" x .66P
Surf board - 3.8" x 1.08"


I embossed the trunk of the tree to add texture.  The yellow umbrella in the back left is actually a toothpick umbrella I had laying around from a party I had awhile back.  The lanterns are held up using pop up squares and strung using twine from Trendy Twine.  I stamped the sentiment in orange to match the paper it's stamped on.  In the background you can see a hint of the ocean.  If I had the embossing folders I received the day after I made this card I could have embossed the roof of the tiki bar.  I slightly inked and distressed the tiki bar to give it more character.  You can see an orange strip on the bottom of the card.  I glued that there so the card would stay folded up a little closer.  The "Surf" sign was cut from a pack of paper that I bought from Target's dollar bins.  Actually all the patterned paper used on this card came from the same stack with the exception of the tiki bar.  That paper where the lanterns are hung are from DCWV's Linen Closet stack.  I think that's all.  I hope you enjoyed my project!

So did you notice something different?  Look to the right.  See it yet?  Well, let me give you a hint....I made the SVG Attic design team!  OK, that may not have exactly been a subtle hint but I'm just way too excited not to spill the beans.  Meet the new design team members HERE! 

This is the first design team I have ever been on and I am so honored to have been selected.  I have been papercrafting for under a year and to have come so far to have been chosen to design for a company is an amazing feeling.

So what does being on the design team entail?  It entails me creating projects to inspire others.  I will be using SVG Attic's SVG collections to create something that will make you say, "Oh, so that's what I can make with that collection!" then it will motivate you and inspire you to make something as well....even purchase the collections I used.  I promise they are all really amazing SVG files.  You can also get updates on new collections, news, and contest information at Jessica's Crop Corner.

Have you checked out SVG Attic?  You definitely should.  Jessica, the owner, just opened up shop and has some really great SVG collections to choose from at extremely reasonable prices.  On top of that she has partnered up with the stamp company, My Thoughts Exactly, to create SVG collections that correspond to the stamps.  An amazing partnership if you ask me.  I ordered my set of stamps and will be using them along with one of SVG Attic's collections for my second design team project.  Head on over to both sites.  You won't be disappointed!
