Vroom Vroom

Happy Monday all.  Yea, I only say that because I'm already off work and sipping on a glass of wine.  :)  When I woke up this morning I wasn't so happy.  Tired is more like it.  Well this weekend I decided to play along with the DCWV Stack-a-holic Template Challenge.  I usually do so no surprise there.  I almost thought I wouldn't make the deadline this time though so I had to haul butt.

This month's challenge was pretty fun.  I really liked the layout.

Here is my rendition.

Oh I know it sort of doesn't make sense that I have Vroom Vroom as the title but it did before I added the frames.  My daughter was in one of those car shopping carts.  Before I had to alter the picture you could see the steering wheel.  In the bottom small picture you can see it.  Hope it makes sense now.

I used DCWV's Celebration Stack for this layout.  It worked great with the colors of the picture.
The Polaroid frame and the two smaller frames are from the Basic Grey line.  I found them at Joann's on sale awhile back.  I finally had a chance to use them.
I designed the title in Silhouette Studio, layered it, and embossed it.
Oh and guess what!  I FINALLY learned how to make rosettes the proper way.  I always somehow just made up ways to make rosettes.  Yea, don't ask.  I have had a hate hate relationship with those pretty things for two years now but I finally figured it out and now I like them.

The "Enjoy the Ride" tag is from Chic tags and is a free printable file.  I found it via Pinterest.

I can't leave out my fave twinery right?  The pretty pretty and perfectly coordinated twine is from Trendy Twine.

I hope you enjoyed my layout.  Now back to my wine and cooking!

Cute as a Bug

I have a quick post for you.  Gotta get going so I have to make it quick.

First off have a great 4th of July to all my American followers.

Here's my latest layout.

How do you like the googly eyes on the butterfly?  Cute right?

The 5x5 and 2x2 prints are from Postal Pix which is my new favorite go-to picture printing place, err app.

I purchased the title from the Silhouette store.

I used the Butterflies & Blossoms stack from DCWV.

Gotta run!!!

Insta-Love

Happy National Scrapbook Day!  Did you participate in any activities or events to celebrate?  I did!  Well, I only made a layout but I did something right?

Today I made a layout for Elle's Studio Sketch Thursday challenge.  I believe I recently discovered Elle's Studio via Paper Issues.  Lately I've been wanting to participate in challenges to get me motivated to scrap.  it's been working!

I printed some Instagram pictures using an app on my iPhone called Postal Pix.  This is my first go at printing Instagram pictures.  I'll give a review of Postal Pix tomorrow.

Story of the layout

We went to the beach a few weeks ago (yes, it has been toasty in SoCal lately...sorry midwest and east coast ladies!).  I took plenty of pictures of my daughter *discovering* the beach.  She loved it until she face planted and literally ate sand.  Poor thing but it was pretty funny.

And guess what......I pulled out the sewing machine again!  I sewed on my layout again.  This time it came out great!

*applause*

Well, great to me since this is like the third time I have ever done this before.  The stitch came out pretty straight.  Yay me!

I used DCWV's Surf's Up Stack and Recollections open stock paper.  I got the Polaroid frame from  LuScapandCrafts (a freebie!).  I had to convert the file to an SVG.  The stamp is Sandy Toes from Pink by Design.  I handcut the triangles on the banner.  Oh and I sewed them...yes I did!

Enjoy!

Welcome Sweet Baby

Let me tell you, sewing is no easy task.  I go this great idea that I would sew on my latest layout.  What in the heck was I thinking?  I cannot sew!!  Yesterday I was frustrated and wanted to punch my machine so I walked away.  It was a disaster.  Today I figured out where I was going wrong.  I wasn't catching the thread from the bobbin.  Yea yea...whatever.  Blegh.

Well, with that figured out I thought I was golden.  No.  I still can't sew.  I didn't take into account the size of a 12x12 paper in relation to the room I had on the machine to sew.  I sewed on my page alright but the stitches are everywhere.  It's a jumbled mess.

Let's put my horrible sewing aside and enjoy the layout (minus the crazy stitching).

Maybe you can't see my mess.  It's on the banner.  I tried to make a pretty banner....oops.  :)  I don't know how you all do it.  Maybe I'll keep trying but I think sewing in a curve is beyond me.  Well, a straight stitch is too.

Oh yea, by the way that's my daughter.  She's 8 months old now. First layout.  I was so stuck on my crappy sewing that I forgot to introduce her.

Sometimes Serious, Sometimes Goofy

Hello again.  Wow, another post!  Whoop whoop!

I should be at a mud run today but I'm not feeling too hot so I stayed home and now here I am scrapping and posting on the blog.

Today I have a layout I made awhile back that I never took pictures of.  I'm STILL working on vacation pictures.  I swear it will never end.  Maybe we should stop going on vacation so I can start scrapping something else.  Actually I am working on a newborn layout of my little one.  She's now 8 months old so yea...I'm behind a bit.

Anyway, here's the layout I made using DCWV's Citrus stack.  I think it's Citrus.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  It's just me and my husband on our honeymoon being goofy.

Pretty Smiles Layout

I entered the latest DCWV challenge with a really cute layout.  I didn't think I would be able to pull it off since it's been so long since I made a layout!  Thankfuly the template is provided and all I have to do is pick the paper and pictures.

For this layout I used DCWV's Tahiti Beach stack.  I have so many Hawaii vacation pictures that I need to scrap that I keep buying up all the beach themed stacks and paper I can find.  I just bought another DCWV beach stack last week.  I'll get to that in another post.  Hey, I need SOMETHING to post about since I don't make layouts or cards all the time anymore.

A little back story before I post the picture.  This particular picture was taken while on vacation on the Big Island (Island of Hawaii).  We were at a little production, show, luau (or whatever) that the townhomes we were staying in was presenting.  They had food all spread out on the table.  Well, me being in love with food hit the table asap.  I grabbed a yummy looking chicken or tuna salad sandwich.  Right before this picture was taken I had bit into this yummy sandwhich and thought I was going to puke.  I know, I should never say that about food but it's true.  I forgot that spam is HUGE in Hawaii.  OMG....I bit into that thing and spit it out like a kid!  I have a huge dislike, more like hate, for spam.  I was forced to eat it as a kid all the time and hated it then.  Oh how despised it.  Well, you know how tastes change as you get older?  Not true in this case.  Ugh...givces me the heeby jeebies thing about it.

Anyway, somehow I managed to smile right after my horrific spam experience and snap went the camera.

Sorry, I didn't think to take close ups of elements.  I really love the colors on this layout.  Nice and mute with pops of bright orange or red and some blue.

Fun Beach Layout

Hi guys!!  It's been a long long time since I lasted posted anything here.  May was my last post and before that...uhhh...no clue.  I have a good excuse though.  I really do.  We welcomed a baby girl into our family earlier this month.  I pretty much lost all interest in crafting and all other hobbies I once enjoyed throughout my pregnancy.  I did a few pages here and there but not much else.  OK, enough about that, let me show you a layout I completed this week.

I'm still working on pictures from our last three vacations to Hawaii.  I finally got all the pictures printed now just working on getting pages cranked out so I can move on.

Ahem, I will not tell you which one I am....chunky or skinny chick.

I used:

-Echo Park's Splash paper collection.

-The cute poxy buttons happen to be Epiphany Craft's Shape Studio Round 25.

-The stamps are from Unity Stamp Co.

-I purchased the fishies that you see lined up in the center of the page from the Silhouette online store and printed them out so I can add some more cool Echo Park images to my page without having to cut up more of the pretty paper!

-Oh and I can't forget Trendy Twine!  I used the Sew Easy to stitch a teal border along the right top corner of my page (Did I just see a guide to sew in circles???  Wahhh?  Gotta have!).  I used Trendy Twine's new Tickled with Teal bakers twine.  Psst, they have a lot of awesome new colors in the store!

There will be more posts up.  I promise.  I made a few other pages over the month that I haven't showcased yet.

Firestarter Layout

As promised on my FB page I have made it over here to post a picture of my latest scrapbook layout.  I made this layout for the DCWV Template Challenge for the month of May.

A little backstory on the pictures.  For our honeymoon my husband and I went to Hawaii.  We decided to do all the touristy things and one of those things was to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center on the Island of Oahu.  We did the whole nine yards there, Luau (you may have seen layouts of pics from the Luau), activities, evening show, etc.

In the pictures for this particular layout my husband had been chosen as one of two guys to compete to start a fire by hand.  Being the Eagle Scout & pyro that my husband is he was pretty darn excited.  He gets to play with fire!!  Unfortunately I didn't print some of the other in-between pics where the fire lit but the top pic is of him starting to light the fire by some means that did not include matches.  My husband was awarded the winners crown of leaves and a flower because he smoked the guy (pun intended)!  He had his fire lit in a matter of seconds while the other guy had trouble getting it lit which leads me to the next two pictures.

In the bottom two pictures my husband is, well....posing which he does quite often for any reason he can find, then dancing a hula dance.  It was an interesting sight.  I married a goof ball.

 Materials used:

  DCWV Tahiti Stack
Trendy Twine - Twisted Lime
Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio - Round 25
Crop-a-Dile to set eyelets
Prima flowers (I think)
Unity Stamp's "Time For Travel" set
Silhouette SD to print and cut title

Hope you enjoyed my little story.  I have another layout for you to see in the next few days and I am working on finishing up another. I just may be back in the game......

Let the fun begin...or continue if you've been hopping along already.

I made a scrapbook page layout for the hop.  Now a little history on that.  I am terrified of layouts.  I have such a hard time trying to figure out how to fill a 12x12 page so I usually stick to making cards.  This layout idea actually started off as a card so maybe that's why I was able to make it this work on a full page.

12x2 Layout

Costume shopping
Cutsie!

The hats and wigs sitting on a shelf

The cute costumes

For this layout I used both the Spooky Friends and the new Thankful Friends collections from SVG Attic.

I used the Simple Sallies Face Assortment #PK-531 to stamp the adorable face onto the paper doll.   Cute right?  These stamps are awesome!  I am definitely a fan.

The "Pick a Costume" sentiment is from My Thoughts Exactly stamp line.  These mix and match stamps are from the Fright Night set.

Before I discuss the prizes, let me tell you a little about each company.
