DCWV's November Stack-a-holic Template Challenge

I came across DCWV's website post the other day about their November template challenge.  I have been getting more and more into scrapbooking my pictures so this was a perfect opportunity to get a picture scrapped. 

For the challenge you just need to use DCWV stacks and make a layout based on the template posted.  Since I mainly buy DCWV stacks I was all set to get going on this.

Not too difficult and really pretty.

Here's what I came up with:

I used the Rustic Stack for this layout.  I love that paper.   

Umm, one thing I learned while making this layout.  Never, ever use the Sew Easy tool while you are distracted.  My husband came in and was talking to me as I was piercing my paper with the Sew Easy and as you can see, my top stitch line is totally crooked!  Boo to that!  He actually kept laughing at it after that.  Meanie!  Good news is my daughter decided she wanted to stitch the thread in so I let her do about half of it.  Whew, less work for me!  It's not thread but I can't think of the name for it at the moment.

Another oopsie I made was nt paying attention to the fact that this layout was for an over size picture.  OOPS!  Oh well, I adjusted and adapted it to a smaller picture.    

One new tool I used is the Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio scallop circle 25.  I made the puprle epoxy scallops shown in the second picture.  It works just like a punch but it sticks the epoxy to it at the same time.  Genius right!?

And of course another one of my favorite tools was used in this.  I used the Crop-a-dile to set the brads on either side of the title.

Halloween Coasters - Spook-tacular Blog Hop

For the hop I made decoupage ceramic tile coasters, each with a spookily cute character from the Spooky Friends collection.

 

 

For instructions on how to make decoupage tile coasters visit my post HERE.  I did everything the same as in that post except added some additional spookily cute designs to my tiles.  You like?  Oh and yes, these tiles are waterproofed and full functional.  A perfect addition to you Halloween decor!

Announcement & Design Team Project Friday

Well, I told you I had a big announcement and today is the day you get to find out what it is! It actually has nothing to do with paper crafting, cards, scrapbooking, etc. Sorry to disappoint if that's what you were looking forward to. I actually think it's better news than anything that has to do with paper. :)

Since it's my day to design for SVG Attic I decided to combine my announcement with my DT project. Ready for it?

Can you guess who? Hehe, it's me silly! After two long years (to the month!) we are ecstatic to announce that we are expecting child #2! This is going to be an interesting new addition. My daughter is already 10 and will just about be 11 when baby Blueberry Nugget Bean (long story) is born so there's a huge gap in age. It's actually nice though because I will have an automatic live-in nanny! Hahaha. This child is going to be annoyed by this baby before it's born if I keep teasing her!

This is my excuse for being around a lot less lately.  I have been absolutely exhausted!  I'm still in my first trimester and I really hope this fatigue goes away.  It's zapping ALL my energy and creativity from me.  My mind draws blanks when I try to think up something to make.  This better go away soon or I'll have a craft room that never gets used.  :(  *sigh*

On to the details of the announcement card.

I used the Tent Cards from SVG Attic as the base of the card. I also used the Give a Hoot collection from SVG Attic for the 3D owl inside the tent card. I added glitter to the owl's eyelashes to bling her out! I used some pink and white Trendy Twine as a border for the frame where the owl sits behind. The front circles were actually the left overs from the cut of the card. I decided to recycle and use it as a slide window. I used my Sew Easy to stitch the floss around the outter circle to create a border. I set some snaps that I purchased on Etsy from wickedwoolgathering with my Crop-a-dile. I added a pink brad to the top so the outter window can slide up to reveal the rest of the message.

Pinterest, the virtual pin board

So what is Pinterest you ask?  Well only one of the coolest sites ever!  It's like a virtual pin board.  You know one of those things you hang on your wall and pin pieces of paper to.  It's like that but much more modern. Before Pinterest I would just look things up on the internet and save them to my bookmarks.  The pain in that is when I need to find something I have to go through practically every bookmark to find that one picture I saved because of course I have no clue what site I got it off.

With Pinterest there's no need to have a bagillion bookmarks anymore.  You can "pin" a link or pictures/images to your "board".  Remember all this is virtual so when you see something online you like you click your pin icon (which you get off Pinterest) and you are able to pin whatever image or site you would like to whatever board you that you have created.  It pretty much downloads it to the site for you.  For instance, I have pictures of cards I found online that I like and pinned them to my "Cards" board.  Doing it this way I have everything in one place and a visual of each item without cluttering up my bookmarks or a folder on my computer.  There will be a link under the image to the site you downloaded it from and you are able to add a description and tags.

As with many of the popular social networks you can follow people on Pinterest that way you see what they are pinning and you can repin something they have.  It's really a cool site and perfect for those people that are forever looking at things online for inspiration.  One catch though, you have to be invited in order to use the site.  Either you can go to the site and request it or you can request an invite from a member.   It takes a few days for an invite from the site but if you request from a member you are able to become a member as soon as they invite you via email.

Each member is given 5 invites.  If you would like an invite email me, message me, or leave a comment with your email address.  I still have 5 left even though I have been on it for some time now.  I'm not greedy, I promise!
